Christmas little shops
The most important part of Neapolitan Christmas tradition is represented by its crib. This tradition is so well-established that each year San Gregorio Armeno’s street, along the Decumani, is full of many art craftsmen shops exposing cribs all the yearlong. From December 8th , the day when every Italian home is decorated for Christmas, this street becomes the place more representative of Neapolitan Christmas tradition. In addition to all the artists and craftsmen, a lot of churches and Monuments proudly expose their hold cribs, some of which are some real artistic pieces such as the Museum of San Martino and Caserta Royal Palace. The crib’s eighteenth century setting does nothing but repeat and describe some of Neapolitan popular life scenes. It will be interesting to visit the historical center of Naples and see the same scenes reproduced inside some many nativity representations through its little streets.
